Blood Donation Day

What happens to the blood when a donation is made? Did you know that there are people who do not have one of the 4 large blood groups classically known to all? The campaign "Compartir Sang, Compartir Vida, Compartir Ciència" consisted in a day organized by the Fellows community together with the Blood and Tissue Bank to share how the blood donation works, the logistics of preserving multiple tissues from the human body and its applications, as well as the research that derives from all these areas; in addition, the aim was to promote the voluntary donation of blood and platelets by enabling a donation space for an entire morning at the headquarters of the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, Casa Milà. In this first edition we were pleased to welcome 6 talks given by researchers and managers of the Blood and Tissue Bank.
