The task of the Foundation
The natural space was acquired by the Foundation in order to preserve its natural and landscape values.
The management is done in the whole protected space through a safekeeping agreement with Sils town council, Emys Foundation and ACA.
Adaptation and maintenance of the space for public use
Signposting of itineraries and maintenance of viewpoints, walkways and bird observation points.
Due to the importance of the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) in Catalonia, the Emys Foundation is making an accurate annual monitoring.
A management plan has been elaborated in order to ensure the good conditions of aquatic habitats (lake, river, and pools), the floodable meadows, the riverbank forests and the bird, amphibian and reptile communities that are typical from this wetland.
