The concert included the work of Fauré, Debussy, Bonis, Satie, Casals, Albéniz, Granados and Casagemas, in dialogue with the work of artists from the Nabis movement.
During the evening, images with pictorial works from this movement were also projected, thanks to the collaboration of the Palau with the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera.
Delicate atmospheres and suspended moments filled the modernist stage in the concert held on April 10 at the Palau de la Música Catalana. Soprano Mireia Tarragó and pianist Marc Serra presented a program inspired by the universe of the Nabis, the French post-impressionist pictorial movement active between the late 19th and early 20th centuries that played a key role in the transition to the first avant-gardes and from which the concert repertoire is inspired.
Through the music of contemporary French composers of the movement, such as Fauré, Debussy, Satie and Bonis, the artistic atmosphere of that time, marked by symbolism, poetry and a new aesthetic sensitivity, has been musically depicted. The evening included a screening of works by painters of the time. This concert is part of the collaboration between the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, which is currently hosting the exhibition: “The Nabis: from Bonnard to Vuillard” in the exhibition hall of La Pedrera.
In recent years, both institutions have worked to share their activity in an interdisciplinary context in relation to the exhibitions that the Fundació has organized in La Pedrera dedicated to Jaume Plensa, Antonio López, Miquel Barceló, “Art en pedra”, Sean Scully, Cristina Iglesias and now the Nabís.
