The Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation and the Alícia Foundation present the innovative KetoAlícia mix at Afterwork Science and a website with practical tools and recipes to follow a ketogenic diet, which improves the quality of life of individuals with certain rare diseases.
The Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation's Nature Campus held a new session in Món Sant Benet. Baccalaureate students participated in the activities to study the ecosystem and botany at the Llobregat River's meander as it flows by the Foundation's facility.
This is a Tàndem Schools project, which pairs up a school and a benchmark institution to work together over three academic years to influence the school’s methodology and make it stand out with innovative strategies. This project got underway this academic year with the Font de la Pólvora, Vila-roja and Sagrada Família schools integrating the performing arts as their backbone of learning.
Joanne Chory, a biologist who was awarded the Princess of Asturias Prize for Technical & Scientific Research in 2019 for her studies on combating climate change with plants, took part in the Afterwork Science event organised by the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation.
The Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation's Nature Campus has got underway. The first 30 baccalaureate students have participated in the activities scheduled during the session held at MónNatura Delta and the L’Alfacada Nature Preserve.
On Sunday, 15 September, the pianist Albert Cano will open the series with a chamber concert with the Cosmos Quartet. He will be followed by Víctor Jiménez, countertenor, and Miquel Ramos, clarinetist. Raquel García-Tomás, the resident composer, will create a piece for each musician which will premiere as part of La Pedrera’s concert season. With this series, the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation supports and promotes talented young musical performers and creators.
New edition starting 15 September The chosen performers are Albert Cano Smit, a pianist with a promising international career; the renowned clarinetist Miquel Ramos; and for the first time, the tessitura of the countertenor Víctor Jiménez Díaz, who has a distinguished international career. And in composition, Raquel García-Tomàs.
A total of 270 school and 15 university scholarships were awarded to ensure the continuation of the awardees’ higher education. More than 3,500 scholarships have been awarded over the course of 17 editions in conjunction with social organisations located around Catalonia.
