The 35th Alzheimer Europe Conference was held in Bologna from 6 to 8 October, in which the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera participated with a panel discussion on 7 October at 5:30pm.
The Foundation, represented by Marta Torras, director of the Foundation's Ageing Well area; Mònica Duaigües and Concepció Herms, responsible for the Memory Enhancement programme, spoke about the programme, the methodology we use, Social Prescription in Catalonia, and the prevention programme.
Alzheimer Europe is the umbrella organisation of 41 national Alzheimer's associations from 36 European countries.
Its mission is to change perceptions, policies and practices in order to improve the lives of people affected by dementia. It is a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) and what it does is to givea voice to people with dementia and their caregivers, making dementia a European priority, changing perceptions and combating stigma, raising awareness about brain health and its prevention, strengthening the European movement against dementia and supporting research on dementia.
At the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, our goal is to improve the quality of life and emotional well-being of older people. With the Memory Enhancement program, we respond to a need that is not sufficiently covered: to accompany people with mild and moderate cognitive impairment (due to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias) to maintain their abilities for as long as possible.
