Wildlife

Blauet

Blauet

(Alcedo atthis)
The flashiest of the fishing birds in our rivers requires hidden sandy slopes to dig their nests, and quiet shores from which they lurk for prey. In the Sot del Fuster you will find the living space you need.

Red heron

Red heron

(Ardea purpurea)
This spectacular fishing bird uses the shallow waters of the banks of the Segre as it passes through the Sot del Fuster, as well as the reed beds of the reserve, as a fishing and resting place. The protection of the space and the tranquillity derived from it give the scarce red heron the ideal conditions to be able to nest there.

Flora and vegetation

WILLOW

Shore forest

The reserve protects a very well-preserved sample of the forest of the plain shores, with poplars, willow and alder. Apart from being a biodiversity refuge, the riparian forest acts as a filter for the water from the crops before they reach the river.
