Mont-rebei gorge

When crossing the Montsec mountain range, the Noguera Ribagorçana river has created an immense cut of vertical walls, the Mont-rebei gorge, which opens to the south in an amphitheatre of impressive cliffs.

The Mont-rebei Gorge is a unique natural environment with a trail that has no railings and features sections with steep slopes. It is important to walk with caution, as risks are common in outdoor activities.

The vertical landscape

Between Aragon and Catalonia, the Mont-rebei gorge cuts across the Montsec mountain range from north to south, the first major formation in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees. The Foundation reserve protects almost 600 hectares on the Catalan coast: the gorge and the banks of the river (where the otter lives), the cliffs (home of great birds of prey) and part of the shady slope of the Montsec d'Ares (covered with oaks).
